What’s better than Avatar in 3D? Avatar in 4D, ofcourse.
Imagine sitting in a theatre showing a 3D film. All is fine with the screen, but suddenly things around you start to act up. One moment, it drizzles and the next, you have bubbles falling around you. Just when you think all is well, your chair starts rocking back and forth and sideways. And it’s all in sync with what is being shown on the big screen, making your movie-going experience that much richer. Welcome to 4D theatres.
What started as a novelty in India at Noida’s Spice World Mall in April 2006 was followed a few months later with another 4D theatre at Orama in Mumbai’s Worli area. Today, 4D has become a game changer, particular after Avatar’s 3D success story. What used to be standard import equipment from places like US, London and Israel is now being indigenously manufactured by companies like the Bengaluru-based FunMax Family Entertainment.
Karnataka got its first 4D theatre three years ago when Innovative Film City set up a state-of-the-art facility outside Bangalore. Last year, Bengaluru got its first 4D theatre at Garuda mall on Magrath Road from FunMax.
Happy viewing!
