A recent report on automobiles by the IBM Institute for Business Value concludes that every car will have some form of hybridisation by 2020. While I like all this tech talk on how cars are going to talk to each other and ensure that they don’t collide and put our life in jeopardy, I am not sure if hybrids it will be in the near future.
For starters, I am not sure every vehicle will be a hybrid in 12 years time, because this hybrid talk itself has been around for more than 20 years now.
There’s this talk about OPEC being such a powerful lobby that any alternative energy source is snuffed out before it makes its presence felt. Not sure how true that is, but I think this whole thing about fossil fuels not lasting forever is a myth that can be used by OPEC to jack up the price of fuel and nothing more.
Innovation is the key to the future. And relying on just one thing isn’t going to get us very far. So innovate, and give us an alternative energy source that’s great for mileage, distances, security and environment. I am waiting.
