You have to wait longer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

It’s official. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will not be released in November 2008 as was announced earlier. It’s been delayed by over eight months. The next release date is July 2009. Agreed, you have waited for more than a year for the next installment. But now, that wait has only grown longer. There are primarily two reasons for this one from what I can imagine:

1. They want it to be a summer release because the producers, Warner Brothers, have got more greedy and want to milk the ‘summer blockbuster’ season like never before and thereby create new box office records.

2. The three-month strike by the screenwriters that ended in February 2008 did upset their schedules and they were not able to tie some loose ends. As you know, a film is as good if enough time is given for post production work. After all, the proof is in the finishing.

However, one thing doesn’t make sense. The producers have announced that the next installment is on schedule. Which means, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, will release in November 2010. If summer is when they can make most of the moolah, why hasn’t this date been changed? Contraditions thy name is Hollywood!
